Hi Andrew - Nice Thornbill photos. We have a similar suite on our block at Brogo. Though our place is mainly established stringybark and Bluebox forest, we border with cleared grazing country and perhaps because of that, also have yellow-rumped thornbills, often in mixed foraging flocks with the buff-rumps.
Hi Max, I am glad you have reminded me about the Yellow-rumped Thornbills, which I have seen only once at Black Range. At least two birds visited the bird bath on the same day as the Buff-rumped TB's, but they did not give me a chance to photograph them. Although we have forest and woodland on two sides of the garden, the other side (along Thornhill Close) is cleared land. That would be where the Yellow-rumped TB's would have come from.
