OK, and it turns out S. nodiflorum is in the list already and S. americanum isn't, so we are all good. You might have looked for it in other shrubs, when it is actually in other wildflowers. Bit tricky, the Solanum genus, with some being a bit more shrub-like than others, but none really woody.
