User's notes

This pair of Crested Shrike-tits briefly visited the bird bath, with only the female (first two images) coming down for a drink, and posing nicely at close range to have her photo taken. The male (last two images) stayed in the tree above. This is the first time ever I have seen this species on our block.

Nice. We used to detect them by call fairly regularly, particularly fossicking among hanging bark streamers on River Peppermints down on the creek. There was a big hiatus during the millenium drought when we didn't see or hear them for years, but lately we have been getting the odd sighting again. Never at our bird bath though, alas.
