There were three of these trees, surrounded by a burnt out dead banksia forest, that seemed to be sprouting some life.

You have two species of Isopogon at this site so its wait and see.

What I should have said is: if the leaves were flat and wider than 5mm, it would likely be Isopogon anemonifolius. If the ultimate leaves were round, needle like but not sharp it would be Isopogon anethifolius. They are the most likely contenders.

Ah ok, I'll deginately include photos of leaves next time. There were no leaves on this tree though.
