Prickly Pear species are hard to distinguish, but based on the hint of glossiness about the segment surface and the elongated obovate segment shape (broader near the tip than the base), plus the fact that I have seen a Tree Pear infestation on the shore of Tuross Lake, I've gone with Tree Pear, not O. stricta. It looks a bit yellow and unhappy out there in that exposed spot. The ones on the lake shore were tall and deep green - pretty sure Council has had them removed since, but given that the segments can probably get transported by water, as well as the seed by birds, there could be more infestations around the area.
