Nice find. Do you know if the area you found it in had been burnt?

No - but the burnt area is not too far away. This is the same patch as previous sighting I think, but I thought they were more well-formed?

I've been hunting through information I have on Ascomycota fungi, of which Peziza are a genus. I now feel that it is fairly likely that your sighting is of a Nothojafnea cryptotricha, a fungus I was not familiar with. There are only two other records of this specis on Atlas of Living Australia for NSW, therefore a significant record. So very well done! I'll now need to go back and look at your other entry.
