Maybe a well developed Fuligo septica specimen judging by the yellowish section on leaf and brownish break showing that which could be a spore mass

Given the purplish margin, possibly a species of Trichaptum - or of one of the genera into which it has been split.

Arrrggghhh! I didn’t look carefully enough and missed this being an anamorphic state! I’d go for Xylaria cubensis (Xylocoremium state). You could, quite correctly, use just Xylaria cubensis, but I like the idea having a separate pigeonhole for those observations that show only the anamorphic form. I did something like this for the ACT where I added the ‘species’ Septobasidium clelandii (Harpographium state). In the field guide the observations of the anamorphic and non-anamorphic states would be right alongside each other.
