Oops - one fell over when I went to try and photograph under it

That's OK, in fact that has helped me with the id. A Cortinarius as you can see the spore colour on the lower half of the stem and in the gill colour. No harm done as it looks like it was drying out anyway. If you just stand it up or lean it against something so the spores are able to continue to drop as they are attracted down.
