Significant sighting

Pam noted:

29 Oct 2020

First record of this 'fire responsive' fungal species in the BCNM region.

User's notes

There seemed to be numerous patches of these tan-brown, domed fungi wherever there was a patch of burn (where a tree had stood, I think)

Hard to tell without seeing the gills. So unfortunately I'll just have to id it to Agaric - gilled fungi.

Do you remember if the ground this fungus was growing in had been burnt? If so most probably Pholiota highlandensis.

Yes, I think so - it seemed to grow on the burnt patches, where tree had burnt.

That's good news. That is characteristic of Pholiota highlandensis. Good record.
