I am posting this as an example (and record) of the distinctive markings of female glossy black cockatoos (and this particular female). I have photos of this female, with her striking yellow gash running above her eyes, from last year, and have not yet looked further back to see if I have any other photos. This pair are feeding close to a hollow they've shown interest in using - or have used, and it's failed. A couple of weeks ago I observed sulphur crested cockatoos chasing them away, and this was both late at night and early in the morning. The glossies did not return. I suspect the hollow is not being used now, but as the birds are still feeding close to the hollow, I still have a faint hope . . .
