Hey @plants this is just a normal part of the machine learning process. From time to time it will make silly IDs when an unusual photograph or unusual angle comes in. It's an opportunity to train the bot that it's wrong by simply confirming over the top of it. It will then be surprisingly good at similar kinds of images of that species next time. Your confirmations are directly training the bot to be better.
Hey @plants - nope absolutely not at all. The AI moderator actually WORKS FOR YOU. It's meant to make moderation easier and eliminate any repetitive grunt work so you don't need to identify a million magpies or a million common plants. Putting our expert human moderators out of a job would be the equivalent of NatureMapr committing suicide. NatureMapr is only possible because of the generosity, skill and expertise of expert moderators like you. But the feedback we have had from large numbers of moderators and project administrators is that there are so many IDs coming through, it is a LOT of work and we don't want to burn people out. So you can help train the robot to identify all the common/boring sightings, then focus on the interesting/tricky ones that a machine learning robot will never be able to do. There are many limitations to the robot and it will never replace an expert human moderator, it just won't. Think of it as a tool you can help train to make your job easier. CarbonAI reports to you!
