User's notes

An exciting day in terms of glossy black sightings. In one hour, I saw nine individual birds, including a family of three with a young fledgling, within 200m of each other. There was a lot of energy throughout the day. At one stage there were several birds calling and interacting - it did not sound friendly. When I got there, I witnessed three pair flying through casaurina, with the males of two pair 'display calling' (I think), fluffing themselves up, then each pair grooming each other. I had previously observed one pair where the male display called, the female pushed him away, he would fly to her, display his tail, fluff himself up, and they would groom each other. Later in the evening, about a km away, I saw one lone male chewing. Also, in the distance, I heard another fledgling. I could not see if this was the single father and fledgling, or whether this was another fledgling. There are photos of four individual females, and the second photo is of a male just after he display called, then flew to the female. The fifth photo is of the mother in the family group.
