Continuing from sighting https://southcoast-nsw.naturemapr.org/sightings/4544307. This sighting shows the head of the case moth caterpillar from the previous sighting.

RobG1: this is a very different animal from that which you discovered inside the cut open case. I think this is still a larva, not an adult. In other Psychidae, the female does not come out of the case and crawl about , but just stays patiently entirely within the case awaiting a visit from a male.
