Artomyces austropiperatus (Peppery Coral)

Fruit-body: tall, multi-branched, whitish to fawn. The larger of two  
very similar corals that grow on wood.
 
Size to 120 mm tall x 80 mm wide.

 Branches upright, to 3 mm diameter, usually divide twice into 4 new
branches, whitish to fawn.  Branch tips crown-like (coronate).

 Stem to 20 mm long x 4 mm diameter.

 Spore print white.
 Note – immediate or delayed, strong, persistent peppery taste.
 
Habit: gregarious and grouped close together.

Habitat: on wood in wet native forests.
