Acianthus exsertus (Large Mosquito Orchid)

A common local orchid with a heart-shaped leaf to 15x40mm, green on the top and red/purple on the underside. The leaf usually sits a little above ground level. Found in both moist and eucalypt forest and more exposed areas. As with many other species in poor seasons, many leaves will be seen with a small percentage of flowering plants. Flowers are well spaced on a 20cm stem, March to April. A.S.
