There are 13 species in Australia, but just a few we might expect to see in the region:
Adversaeschna brevistyla (Blue-spotted Hawker); Hemianax papuensis (Australian Emperor); and - perhaps - Austrogynacantha heterogena (Australian Duskhawker)
The larvae have very long bodies.
