I was tossing up here, in the end I went on the whitish stripes on the neck and overall dark colour. If Striated heron, then a young one.

I can't see any gannets in the pictures (only gulls and *possibly* a crested tern), but I have no doubt that they would have been in the area. With all the shearwaters and whales there must've been a decent amount of fish around!

Wow - I thought that’s what they might have been, but too timid to guess. I thought there might be gannets too? I had no idea about the wedgies. It really was amazing to watch them streaming past - soooo many!!
