Genus seems to be right, but may not be E. chilonaria. Matches the one ID'd as E. tryxaria at http://mothsoftoowoomba.blogspot.com.au/2016/09/oenochrominae-geometridae-epidesmia.html. In Peter Marriott's 'Moths of Victoria', Part 4 (Ent. Soc. Vic., 2012), 6 spp of Epidesmia are illustrated (including chilonaria and tryxaria), but your moth doesn't match any of them well.

Did it have bright orange hindwings (indicating chilonaria)? Fw pattern looks OK for tryxaria, a common species.
