Hi Kerry - this one is a good match for the Common Hover Fly (Melangyna viridiceps or M.collatus). It's the same genus as your suggestion (Black-headed Hover Fly ... M. damastor), but in M.damastor the 2nd and 3rd yellow bands continue across the dorsal abdomen, with no break. Although the common name "Black-headed Hover Fly' is sometimes used to refer to the whole genus. Cheers.
