Yep, gunnii leaflets remain more or less circular for all leaves, while varians leaflets get more elongated further up the stem. Also the little strips of seeds in the first photo are more or less flat along the upper edge in varians, and deeply indented on both top and bottom edge in gunnii. Plus gunnii grows in shady forest sites and varians in sunny woodland or grassland. Both are common in the Bega Valley.
