These may be two different sorts of fungi growing together

Usually on wood often buried wood giving it the appearance of growing out of soil. These fungi deliquest or auto digest themselves which often gives the allusion of two different species as you have suggested here although I have found two different species of Coprinus growing together in the past, but not in this case.
