Hi Fiona, Nope, a slime mold, the dog's vomit or scrambled egg slime. I see we have Fuligo septica and Fuligo septica var flava in the list for this area, so I'll leave it to Pam to decide which to call it.

I would most probably go for Fuligo septica - though Index Fungorum now has the 'current name' listed as Fuligo septica var septica!

With these organisms it is often necessary to be able to look at the 'microcharacteristics' to give an identification with a level of certainty closer to 100%!
