Notable for the tree's age and size and the enormous and scarred broken branch at right which has left a valuable hollow.

Wow, that is a very strange and lumpy looking branch. Maybe the same process that produces burls, whatever that is.

Perhaps insect attack on a massive scale? There is some fire evidence on the tree including that branch but it is only superficial.
