The tail looks to be a good bit longer than the body length, making it the introduced Black Rat (not a very appropriate name as it is brown, the same as the native rats). Also the ear looks quite long, as if it would reach to the front of the eye if pressed forward, another distinguishing feature for the Black Rat. They are widespread in the bush, not just around towns.
