Do you remember if it had gills or pores and if possible the colour of same please?

It had gills underneath which were a similar colour to the top.

Thanks for that information. The species Gymnopilus junonius normally grow in clusters so extremely unusual that there is just a single specimen and on top of a stump as well!! Any chance someone has picked it and set in that dip on the top of the stump? lovely clear image of the scales on the cap surface.

We found it by itself on the track and placed it in the stump to photograph it.
