I think there are detailed markings suggesting this moth is Ectropis bhurmitra (eg. thorax and abdoment markings including 'double' spets etc.), see

The moth lacks two features which would clearly identify it as E. excursaria: 1. a major kink in a prominent forewing mainline, and 2. a clear 'step' in an outer hindwing main line.
There are NSW records of this species, as far south ar Mt Kembla. NSW.
