Eye capped moth
Nearly all Opostega are white but there is one similar to this one in Moths in the ACT, p 40.

Hi John. I presume you are referring to the strongly banded black and white specimen which appears in the figure on page 83 of the reference you cite which I can see as a PDF file online. I find it often difficult to compare photos from life with set specimens of the samde species, If I am looking at the correct figure on p 83 the difficulty I have is your photo seems to show a moth with a white head, however I'm not sure I see a white head in the figure on page 83. Nevertheless it may be safer to say this moth is in the Opostegidae family given this moth is more elongate and not the same shape as the Australian Opostega (genus) examples I see online. I am not sure we have exhausted other possibilities though, Not Tineidae family?

Please look at commentary at: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/251493510
David Hilton and Axel Kallies are currently looking at this group and another sighting was observed by Paul Whitington two days before this sighting.

OK, I see your comment with regards to Moths in the ACT, p, 40. second photo which is marked 'Opostega sp.'. I agree, its the closest image I see to your moth. And it has a white head. Apparent;y a so-called 'giant' species.
A new sighting for NatureMapre and NatureMapr's South Coast region. An excellent find and photo.
