Blind Snake
Blackish Blind Snake is one of over 200 species (ten genera) of blind snake found worldwide. Australia has 40 species confined to the one genera Ramphotyphlops. Blind snakes are small, non-venomous snakes and are rarely encountered. They are nocturnal and usually burrow through the soil, although they may be seen moving on the surface on warm humid nights. They feed primarily on ants and termites. Most are pink or grey in colour with extremely shiny scales. They are incapable of biting. The Blackish Blind Snake may grow up to 75cm.
