Recently split from the Short-eared Brushtail, T. caninus, found in NE NSW and SE Qld. Found at higher elevations in the region in cool, wet eucalypt forest. Larger than a Common Brushtail, darker furred, bushier tailed with a blunter muzzle and ears not obviously longer than wide.
