Botaurus poiciloptilus (Australasian Bittern)

Australasian Bitterns are widespread but uncommon over south-eastern Australia. In NSW they may be found over most of the state except for the far north-west. They are listed as Endangered under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 (New South Wales) and Endangered under the EPBC Act 1999.
