Chelodina longicollis (Eastern Long-necked Turtle)

<p>The Eastern Long-neck Turtle is one of a large and diverse group of long-neck, snake-neck or &lsquo;side-necked&rsquo; turtles. When it feels threatened, this turtle will emit an offensive smelling fluid from its musk glands. This trait gives the turtle one of its other common names, &lsquo;stinker&rsquo;.</p> <p>The Eastern Long-neck Turtle is carnivorous, eating a variety of animals, including insects, worms, tadpoles, frogs, small fish crustaceans and molluscs. Its shell may grow up to 25cm in length.</p> <p>Distribution: It is common throughout the region, particular at lower altitudes.</p>
