Coenagrionidae (family) (pond damsel)

Adults are usually brightly coloured. This is a large family, and there are at least 13 species which might be found in the region. 

Larvae up to 30mm long, with 3, leaf-shaped gills ('tails'). Hence their common name of 'Leaf-tailed damselfly nymphs'.
