Aleuria sp. (genus) (An Orange peel fungus)
The fruit body is saucer-like to cup-like (and technically is called an apothecium). It is yellowish-orange to deep orange and generally paler on the lower surface - sometimes markedly so.
The apothecia have diameters ranging from one to over five centimetres. There may be short stem, but it may be hidden by leaf litter or be partially buried. An isolated apothecium is circular in outline but when apothecia appear closely clustered, they may become distorted by mutual pressure.
The upper surface is quite smooth and the lower is rough to some degree, but without spines, or bristles.
The apothecia appear on soil.
When a bright orange, an apothecium looks very much like a small piece of orange peel.
