Fruit body:- 30 - 70 mm tall with a distinct division between the fertile head and the stem.
The head is elongated, club shaped, twisted, longitudinally furrowed, smooth, black, pointed yet blunt, waxy but not glutinous, darked than the stem; border with stem well defined.
Stem is cylindrical with no basal swelling, small furrows noted
