The form of the named species is a compound structure with overlapping lobes radiate from a common point. Upper surface is smooth and matt, or FAINTLY velvety. Has more of a look of an immature Postia pelliculosa with the colour of that very obviously developing 'hairy' upper surface and thick edge to the margin of the fungus. A species I've photographed 'weeping'. Great photos. If you have a chance to go back and look at it as it matures it would be interesting to see how it develops.

I would disagree. If you do a search for Ryvardenia campyla (Berk.) Rajchenb, you will find numerous images etc which closely match the images supplied. Yes it seems there are some 'common' features for each species, including the hairy upper surface. Maybe a specimen(s) should be sent away for further clarification. The third image is as far as it has progressed, other than drying out.

Good idea. Michael Priest at DAR would be a good person to look at the specimen as his done a fair bit of work on Polypores.
