User's notes

Tiny deep red fungi. The biggest was barely 1 cm in circumference. Many smaller ones were coming up around it. The ground was sandy and moist.

The fungi would have been associated with the piece of wood they are coming up around or other buried wood. This attractive species is described as often growing in sandy loam and moist habitats. We often find them growing around the bases of fallen or dead wattle trees. Theat ground definitely looks moist!
