This funnel shaped leathery fungus grows on rotting wood usually in rain forests. This one was found on the edge, almost in the surrounding dry sclerophyll forest. It is unmistakable with its brownish inner surface which is vertically ridged and its lower white surface, when young. As it matures it drys out but remain attached to the substrate for many months.
