Cap 5cm broad, convex, violet brown.
Flesh white with pale violet tints, soft and spongy. Tubes porphyry pink.
Stem 8cm long, 14 mm broad, bulbulose at base dry same colour as cap, white interior, fibrillose striate, staining yellow at base.
Note, no colour change on injury.
This is typical of the Tylopilus 'lilac' group of species with pink spores that white flesh and basically no staining. The robust nature of the fungus and the colour tones in the pileus and stipe are also typical of this group of species. The name Roy Halling is giving it is still nom. prov. at the moment.
